¿Quién está autorizado a inspeccionar un andamio?

According to OSHA, scaffolding must be inspected by a “user-trained worker,” as long as that worker qualifies as a competent person. A competent person is defined as someone who is able to recognize existing and foreseeable dangers in the environment or working circumstances that are unsanitary, hazardous or dangerous to employees, and who has authority to take timely corrective actions to eliminate them. For more information on inspecting scaffolding, please visit the OSHA website and browse our Project Uptime article on Choosing a Competent Person

What are the three types of scaffolds?

The three main categories of scaffolding are supported, suspended and aerial lifts. Supported scaffolds consist of platforms that are supported by rigid structural supports such as outrigger beams, legs, brackets, poles, uprights, posts or frames. Suspended or “hanging” scaffolds are work platforms that hang down from overhead support structures. Aerial lift scaffolding simply comprises any aerial lift platform used for elevated work, such as boom or scissor lifts.

How often must a competent person inspect the scaffold?

Scaffolding and scaffolding equipment must be inspected by a competent person prior to each work shift, and after any event which could compromise the scaffold's structural integrity.
